Representatives from the local business and property industry attended this workshop. Following on from that Horncastle submitted the following thoughts to the planning officers

‘In any plan of this type the key elements should be flexibility. Flexibility because wevery much believe that only by us creating this locally will we be able to deal with the much wider social issues that afflict our people whether they be a young person affected by youth unemployment or someone more mature who has recently lost their job. We also believe a growing economy is important to both those in the public and private sector. The two sectors need each other something not always recognized.

Business needs to be allowed to flourish for everyone’s sake.

Someone once said ” the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people’s money” capitalism for all its ills with a social conscience is very necessary.

There are many ingredients needed to get our local economy growing your plan and actions and that of the other three councils are one important part in giving a wider genuine open for business status to the sub-region.

A rising tide will make more boats float, the Humber region, our region has many attributes, great people, great quality of life, good transport and communication, a low cost base and land to grow.

The ideal and big vision should be that all the land allocated and more is used up in the plan period and that it is occupied by strong sustainable business and jobs.

We should all be prepared to take some risks, recognize we will make some mistakes and be prepared to forgive them because the benefits will far out way.’
